Online shopping becomes a boon in India

The online industry has come out of the initial problematic phase. The shopper frequency has recently gone up as the average bill value has been doubled in past three years. Some of the e-commerce websites like Myntra, CaratLane, Indiaplaza, Buytheprice and Snapdeal.com have observed higher transaction bills as compared to 2009. The average value transaction on Myntra.com has been uplifted from Rs 700 two years ago to Rs 1,300 currently. Shoppers are purchasing 1.5 items for every transaction they make on the site in contrast to one per cent earlier and are buying 3-4 times a year. Even CaratLane an online jewelry retailer has also got uplift from 50% in bill size over past financial year. As per Ms Kalaivani Sadagopan, Senior Vice-President, every month they get a few high-value solitaire orders online, from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 40 lakh. The online retail model should be credited for the rapid boom in the online industry, as both the comfort level and trust of the consumers have increased in a short span of time. Online shoppers have a wide range to choose from. One of the leading website Myntra has a catalogue of more than 25,000 products of over 300 brands. The stats a couple of years ago were that of 500 products from 10-12 brands. Snapdeal one of the most visited site kick started its business as a service provider but soon realized the fact that you just can’t sustain for long in the business you will have to add a good collection of products as well. With the company entering into the product based business model has been very profitable. A ticket size of Rs 500-800 then has grown to a few thousand rupees today. There has been a significant growth in the frequency of buying from once in two weeks to more than once a week. Many online retail website are inclined towards the business model that has options like cash on delivery and EMI. Indian shoppers are still way back from the global consumers as they are still the unbeatable ones. Today User are moving to websites those are sharing shopping coupons, discount coupons because they get there current offers & discount. I will post another blog to give more details about this.
